Google Search Volume statistics in Keyword Tool
A long wait has come to an end
Google has added a new feature to the external keyword tool, which now shows the approximate search volume numbers. You can now see statistics on the approximate number of search queries matching your keywords. This data allows you to better plan your budget and pick keywords most likely to return quality leads, which in turn can help improve your ROI.

Advertiser Competition: This column shows the number of advertisers worldwide bidding on each keyword relative to all keywords across Google. The shaded bar represents a general low-to-high quantitative guide to help you determine how competitive ad placement is for a particular keyword.
Approx Search Volume [Previous Month]: This column shows the approximate number of search queries matching your keywords that were performed on Google and the search network in the previous calendar month. This number is specific to your targeted country and language as well as your selection from the Match Type drop-down menu. Learn more about the Keyword Tool’s search volume statistics.
Approx Avg Search Volume: This column shows the approximate average monthly number of search queries matching your keywords that were performed on Google and the search network over a recent 12-month period. This number is specific to your targeted country and language as well as your selection from the Match Type drop-down menu. Learn more about the Keyword Tool’s search volume statistics.

I just tried the tool and showing the statistics is much better than the previous reports. One of my targeted cities however, has the same name as a larger city in Canada, and Google is unable to tell the difference between the two cities and countries.

Hi John
Results are tailored to the languages and countries you choose… and you can either select Canada or U.S or U.K and find the number of searches that originate from these places.. or may be you can even filter it by state.

Hi everybody
Fantastic tool improvement, now we actually have specific numbers of the search volume. It gives me a great advantage that I now can tell our PPC clients what they should expect from the search engines.
Well done Google!

Finally google give us the exact numbers. No more second guessing wordtracker and other unreliable tools.

those are not exact numbers; just approximate, and also doesn’t include certain brand names in it. search for ‘iphone’ in it, and it wont show you any results.

Corda,
I’m pretty sure you don’t need to sign up for an adwords account to use the tool.
Like SEO Master said, it is strange that they withheld this information. Maybe they thought people could abuse it somehow?

Though the value shown may not be very accurate, still it provides a rough estimation of a particular keyword. It is still best to make use of at least 2 other paid or free keyword tracker tools to do a detailed keyword research.

This tool is extremely useful, especially as you don’t have to be an Adwords user - I gave up and decided to use organic SEO instead as a cheaper long term strategy. I sometimes wonder which countries the search volumes are applicable to though.

Yes, this keyword feature is one of the better additions adsense has added. I’m sure it doesn’t make some of the keyword software sellers all that happy though.
